The Tories first attempt at fiscal restraint is nothing more than political opportunism. If the first move to tighten the belt came from and for the PMO it would have sent a strong message and set an example for the rest of us. What kind of message is sent when Harper is in effect saying “When the time comes to tighten our belts the buck stops with … Elizabeth May”. The driving force behind any such measure should be to better the Canadian economy, not to hurt your opponents. Harper should be ashamed!

Variety reports that Fox Network has decided to replace Saturday morning cartoons with infomercials. So much for plopping the kids down in front of the boob tube while mom and dad organize. What does Fox hope to accomplish by this? Do they honestly believe that parents sit and watch TV with the kids on Saturday? Do they believe that the kind of people who stay up all night, credit card in hand, anxious to score that Sharp Image air cleaner will be awake on Saturday morning for more mad purchases? Who the heck has any spare cash laying around in these tough times to actually buy that crap?

According to the New York Post, Ann Coulter has apparently had her jaw wired shut. While some might think this is the work of a rogue liberal, the truth is that she had a mishap.

WE HEAR…THAT although we didn’t think it would be possible to silence Ann Coulter, the leggy reaction-ary broke her jaw and the mouth that roared has been wired shut…

We can only hope that her tendencies to shoot off at the mouth will make for an extended rehabilitation period.
